Artisanal Records was founded in 2016 to find and promote independent musical artists that deserve a wider hearing and greater notice. We strive to offer only the highest audio quality recordings.
Recordings produced by the artists on Artisanal Records are available in several different formats and can be purchased here, at our store, or at other online merchants and selected record stores. Downloads purchased elsewhere (for example at Amazon, Spotify, ITunes, etc.) are usually only available only in compressed and lossy versions.
Only at the Artisanal Records website can you purchase music downloads in uncompressed and compressed lossless formats.
The formats offered are WAV, AIFF and FLAC. For more information about these formats. We also offer MP3 downloads sampled at 320 kbs. While we believe that the artists’ work is best appreciated as uncompressed and lossless; however, for portability and for listening on cell phones and other similar devices, the MP3 version may be preferred.
Please note that the size of the lossless and compressed lossless versions will take longer than typical downloads. If you have difficulties with the download, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your business.
Phil Davis and Jon Sender, Co-founders
Phil Davis—Phil has been writing and recording original music since he was 14. He started recording professionally in the early 1980s with now renown producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Green Day, Sonic Youth) and Garbage guitarist Steve Marker on Marker’s four-track recorder. They moved up to more sophisticated gear when Vig and Marker started the legendary Smart Studios. Davis, Vig and Marker recorded an unreleased album of their band, First Person, and Davis, Vig and Garbage’s Duke Erikson went on to write and record Fire Town’s critically hailed In the Heart of the Heart Country and The Good Life, both released on Atlantic Records. After a long hiatus Davis and Vig renewed their recording career together with the 2012 international release on Proper Records UK of their new band, The Emperors of Wyoming, with long-time band mates Frank L. Anderson, Peter Anderson, Alex Smolinski and Kim Henry. That record was released in America in 2014 on Liaison Music.
Jon Sender—Jon has had a life-long passion for music. In addition to playing guitar, bass and violin, he has recorded and produced. He is an avid collector of music recordings across genres. Professionally, Jon has worked in politics and academic health care.
